Jackpot Slots Winner
May Not Get Winnings
How would you feel if you were playing the slots
and you put in your money and won, only to be told that you could
not collect it because the slots were not working properly? In what
seems to be a recurring theme lately, that is exactly what happened.
People play the slots, but if they aren’t working properly you don’t
know it until you win a big slots jackpot and they refuse to pay
you.
A Hong Kong woman was playing the slots at a Macau casino, and had
put in 5 Hong Kong dollars. The slots at the Star World Casio lit up
saying that she had won $5.5 million. The casino turned around and
said no she had not, as this game only pays out a maximum of $5,771.
The woman complained to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination
Bureau who told her that the amount exceeded the slots maximum
payout, and denied her claim.
They then promised to look into it further and would refrain from
making a final ruling until they had all of the details. The woman
is now awaiting their final decision on the matter. However, many
are now wondering why the player is penalized when the slots are not
running properly.
They say that the player is penalized three ways: firstly they are
playing slots that are not working properly and thereby could be
keeping them from winning; secondly, they don’t get the prize that
the slots tell them they got because the machine malfunctioned; and
third, if the machine was due to hit, why don’t they get the max
payout then instead of nothing. They argue that the slots hit and
therefore at the very least the Hong Kong woman should have gotten
at least the $6,000.
