Boardwalk Gaming
Gets Slots
Boardwalk Gaming Centre (BGC) finally has their slots up and running
and patrons could not be happier. Last week, 50 slots were running
and within just a couple of hours of opening every one of them was
occupied by someone playing to win. Don Markley, one of the BGC
partners says that they expect it to continue to grow in popularity
as more and more people discover that they are there.
Markley said that it has taken them a long time to get it done, and
that they still are not completed with all of their renovations, but
that they have hired local contractors to get the job done and it is
almost finished. They say that they are proud to be the first slots
gaming centre in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.
In addition to needing places to put the slots, they also landscaped
the area and painted the building to make it look fresher. They are
also adding in upgrades to their food and entertainment areas. Not
only will the finished product be pleasing to the eye, it will also
be pleasing to the pockets of the 16 local charities that will
benefit from the slots proceeds.
It took two years to get the approval to bring in slots, but Markley
says that although that seems like a long time, the district was
“being thorough” in their investigation and did not want to make a
hasty decision. He says that although the bingo hall was not doing
well, the new gaming centre is expected to do very well for
themselves considering the addition of the slots.
