Slot Parlors Might
Close
If several slots parlors do not renew their
licenses before Sunday, the state lottery says that they will have
to shut them down. There are roughly 130 slots parlors that have not
renewed their licenses yet, and as each of the slots licenses are
limited video lottery licenses they are only valid for a year and
then must be renewed.
More than 1,550 retailers have already renewed their licenses, but
the other 130 have not. Therefore, the state lottery says that they
will close down those that have not renewed, and there will be no
extensions for anyone.
In the past they have allowed a grace period, but they say that the
policy has been abused and therefore they will not allow it any
longer. They say that since it takes several days to get the renewal
checks cashed, their financial records and Workers Comp coverage
verified, as well as their Alcohol Beverage Control License checked,
those that have not taken care of it in a timely manner will be
looking at several days without their machines online.
Those retailers that are late and unverified will have no one to
blame but themselves. Lottery officials say that it is usually the
repeat offenders who will find themselves in a jam come Monday, but
they are hoping that this will show them that they mean business
when it comes to their slots licenses.
