Man Makes Resorts
Slots History
An 83 year old retired steelworker from
Pennsylvania won’t have to worry about money anymore – he just made
history at the Resorts Hotel and Casino Atlantic City by playing
their slots and winning big. Robert Schaeffer came to play the slots
and ended up leaving with a $4.2 million jackpot for his troubles.
Schaeffer came to Atlantic City with his friends Doris Weinman and
Leah Harris just for the day. They had spent almost all of their
money, and were waiting for the bus to leave. While waiting, they
decided to play their last few bucks in the Megabucks slots game.
After both of his friends took their turns, Schaeffer stepped up and
played the maximum bet, which was $3 or 60 nickels. Next thing he
knew the eagles were up, the machine was calling for an attendant,
and he was a millionaire. Not only that, but it was the largest in
the casino’s history.
He is planning on setting up trust funds for his five grandchildren
and his seven great-grandchildren with the money. One can only
assume that the next time he and his friends go out to dinner, it
will be on him.
