Slots Expand Across
State
Now that California’s voters have decided that the
state is to become a slots free-for-all, the machines have quickly
started spreading. It has only been about two months since the slots
were approved by the thousands, and many of those inland tribal
casinos have already added some and are preparing to add more.
The state’s residents voted to allow four Southern California tribes
to bring in 17,000 new slots between them. Before the limit was
2,000 a piece, so the vote was a huge gambling expansion. Plus, the
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians was allowed to add 5,500 slots –
and they have already added 3,500 of their allotment.
The Morongo Casino Resort & Spa is up to 2,910 slots on their
property, and are adding 500 in the next few months. The Pechanga
Resort & Casino has 3,300 and is also adding an additional 500
slots. Both tribes can add up to 5,500.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is adding an additional
3,000 slots to the 2,000 they already had. It is being split between
both of their casinos. They also get to open a third casino which
the others did not get permission to do.
