Slots Bringing in
Millions for PA
Pennsylvania has been bringing in millions since
the slots were up and running in their fair state, but now it seems
that they are about to reach a huge milestone in slots history. The
slots are about to reach the $570 million mark, which is the magic
number for homeowners in the state.
A portion of the revenues from the slots is supposed to go to
homeowners in the form of property tax relief. When Governor Ed
Rendell tried to get the slots legalized, he said it was so that
homeowners could get some help with skyrocketing property tax bills.
The actual amount of relief that each homeowner will get from the
slots is not known, but they believe that it will be somewhere
around $200 per household, even a little less. It will depend on the
school district that you live in as to how much help you will
actually get.
Some residents are displeased by the amounts that have been rumored
to be applied towards their taxes as they thought that the reason
for getting the slots in PA was to help them. They say a difference
of $200 or less from their taxes is not enough to warrant the number
of slots that have been legalized in their state.
The government says that many senior citizens and disabled persons
have already seen the benefit of the slots. They say that there were
many property tax cuts and rent rebates enacted for them last year
that have made their lives much more livable. They say that the
slots are here to help many different groups, not just the property
taxes for homeowners.
