Gulfstream is Open,
Almost
Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino has reopened after
a long awaited retooling of the park and among those things included
was a large increase in betting on its races. They are even having
their races shown in places where it was not offered last year.
However, this does not mean that everything was open.
The slots part of the track was not open, as the track won’t be
opening that part until Saturday. They have roughly 250 Class III
slots opening in their redone ground floor casino area, which they
are very proud of. However, as testing is not done on the slots,
they cannot open until it is.
They are hoping that they will be open on Saturday especially since
they know how much money they will lose if they don’t, but without
their certification from the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel
Wagering, there will be no slots operating. Their general manager
says that they are confident that if it is not Saturday then it will
be shortly thereafter, but they really do want this weekend.
Slots players can still take part in those that are located on the
second floor casino of the track, there are about 570 located there.
With the day being unseasonably cold, they did not get the
attendance that they were counting on, but they say that once the
slots are open they expect that to change.
