L
LIBERAL SLOT –
This
definition has nothing to do with your personal politics… we assure
you that “liberal” slots are a bipartisan hit! “Liberal,” as it
applies to slot games, is nothing but a synonym for a game that is
“loose” or “hot” – in other words, paying out generously.
LIBERTY BELL –
The Liberty Bell slot machine was Charles Fey’s brainchild. The
so-called Father of the Modern Slot Game created the first-ever
terminal with automatic payouts, not to mention mechanical reels.
Before the Liberty Bell, slots were cumbersome beasts with tumblers
that had to be cranked by hand, and which handled no cash. Players
would have to place bids and collect winnings from the game
operator, which meant that the devices had to be constantly
attended. The Liberty Bell (so named because of its patriotic theme
and the golden bell that was its jackpot symbol) also featured reels
that could be made to turn with the mechanism of a lever. Basically,
the Liberty Bell was the original one-armed bandit! Its popularity
was immediate, and the flurry of orders poring into Fey’s mailbox
soon sent the machines into deep backorder. The Liberty Bell is
hopelessly outdated, but will always have a crucial place in casino
gambling history.
LIGHT WAND –
Light
wanding is another despicable method of trying to defraud casino
slot machines. Like a “monkey wire,” a light wand is an external
device inserted into a slot game terminal with the purpose of
confusing the device into either paying out more money than that to
which a player is entitled. A light wand normally consists of a
minuscule light bulb attached to a wire and tiny battery. Because
most latter-day slots utilize an optical verification device to
“count” the money paid out as prizes, the light wand can
theoretically disrupt the normal workings of this safeguard and fool
the machine into dumping out a lot of cash. A light wand will NOT
make a machine pay out more often.
The use of a
light wand is even more risky and boneheaded than that of other slot
machine “cheating devices,” all of which are stupid ideas anyway.
Keep in mind that a wannabe crook still has to find the time and
opportunity to insert the wand, and then get it safely back out
again before they are suspected or caught by casino management. As
very few people “just so happen” to have this kind if widget on them
at a given time, light wanders can expect severe consequences if
apprehended.
LINE DOUBLER –
A line
doubler is a kind of multiplier, beloved by slots players because of
the boost it can give your winnings! Line doublers are dedicated
symbols that double the payout of winning combinations that you have
already recovered! These are a good example of the little “bells and
whistles” that can really amp up your gambling experience, and are a
good thing to look for in a slot machine if you like a little (or
BIG, depending on the situation!) surprise now and then!
LOAD –
The word
“load” is used contextually to refer to an amount of coins. It could
be the total sum of winnings that you have accumulated so far, or it
could refer to the highest coin size allowed by a machine, a la the
top per-spin wager. Basically, it’s a flexible term.
LOOSE SLOT –
A
“loose” slot, like a “liberal” or “hot” pokey, is one that pays out
generously. Compared to its “cold” or “tight” brethren, a “loose”
device will sport a higher payout percentage when averaged over a
span of time. Many “loose” slots are not just figments of a player’s
imagination – they actually have more paying symbols per reel than a
typical slot game. More paying symbols obviously equates to more
wins over a period of time… so go forth and look for these killer
slots!
LOW LEVEL MACHINE
–
Another term for a “slant top” device, this is a slot machine at
which you are able to sit down. Obviously a “low level” machine will
have a shorter profile than an “upright” game at which players are
expected to stand up. Those who like to relax and just enjoy the
casino gambling experience will probably prefer this type of game,
as they are infinitely more comfortable for long period of play.
