Powercash Could Lead
to Slots Addiction
It would seem that the casinos would like you to
get addicted to their slots, or at the very least, spend all of your
hard earned money on them. They keep coming up with ways to keep you
at the slots, especially when it is most likely that you would get
up and leave. They are making it their goal to keep you there as
long as possible.
They have now come up with another angle to keep you at the slots,
it is called “Powercash.” The idea is that when you are sitting at
the slots, instead of having to get up and hit the ATM to get more
money so that you can continue to play, you can access your money
sitting right there. This way they never have to leave their seats
at the slots or the tables, and the casino earns more money.
The problem is that many times this is seen as a “Cool Down” sort of
period where the slots player has time to think about the fact that
they are about to take out more money to play, and might possibly
change their mind about doing so on their way back to the slots.
This is exactly what the casinos are trying to avoid.
Gambling Addiction advocacy groups say that it is a horrible idea.
They say that the time that they take when they walk away is crucial
for many people and will keep them from spending every dime they
have. They need the break to be able to think coherently about the
money they are spending, instead of being able to continuously pump
money into the slots.
With casinos in California looking into installing the feature,
experts say that it is just a matter of time before casinos across
the country are using the feature. They also say that it is a
ticking time bomb for slots addicts.
