Counterfeit Slots
A California couple was arrested at Caesar’s
Palace on July 30th after playing the slot. Their crime? Using
counterfeit money in the slot. Not only that, but being the brain
surgeons they are – they used their Total Rewards customer loyalty
cards while doing it, so it was very easily traced.
The couple went down the rows, playing 13 different slots with their
money, and using $100 counterfeit bills at each of the machines.
Caesars Palace’s security took a look at what was going on, and
after figuring out which slots had taken the counterfeit money, they
crosschecked the loyalty card database to see when the slots had
accepted the money and who was playing at that time.
Sure enough, once they ran the results, they found that the couple
was responsible for putting the phony money in the slots, and had
them arrested. This arrest comes on the heels of another slots
scandal at the casino, where they lost almost a half a million
dollars on a faulty slot machine.
Patrons had been playing the slots getting more money credited for
their deposits than they should have. It was brought to the casino’s
attention by someone playing the slots who noticed they got $200 for
putting in $20. The casino paid a fine of $15,000 for failing to
test the slots, and 24 patrons swiped their loyalty card while
playing – not the best way to try and rip off a casino!
