Slot Review: Barnyard Boogie

Are you a down-home boy or girl? Well, get ready to do the Barnyard Boogie! This cute, silly little online slot is one that is sure to please a large audience of punters. It’s not because the slot game is especially stimulating or high-quality, which it definitely is not. It’s more the fact that this game offers big money payouts, and a charming sense of humor. Look, there is a veritable slew of farming-related internet slots out there. There are some that feature state-of-the-art graphics, and a few that are really creative, original, and fun to play. Barnyard Boogie doesn’t really distinguish itself in any of these categories. But trust us when we say that you will want to play it, regardless!

Barnyard Boogie was made by Cryptologic. It’s a five-reel, nine-payline slot machine title featuring what in-game advertising calls an “amazing bonus game!” Coin values start at one dollar, and go up to twenty dollars. This ain’t your normal penny slot, in other words. There is a max coin value of nine, or one per payline. That makes the highest per-spin wager one of one hundred eighty dollars. You’ll have to lay out that high bet for a shot at the four thousand coin jackpot. Do the math on a maxed-out bet – that’s eighty thousand dollars! Barnyard Boogie features a free practice mode for those who like to try out the goods before wagering their luck.

The graphics of this game are nothing special, but not offensively terrible either. The reels are set on a variegated green background representing a grassy lawn, with a red barn and a tractor in the background. Bouncy musical notes float through the air, letting you in on the musical theme. On the reels, you will see icons supporting the farming theme: a farmer, a keg of liquor (marked with the folksy “XXX”), a milk jug, several dancing farm animals, and the same tractor from the background. Letters and numbers representing poker symbols make up the rest of the images on the reels.

The pink pig is the wild symbol for this online slot. He appears on only the second and fourth reels, and can substitute for any other image in the slot game in a winning combo (with the exception of the scatter symbol). The pig’s appearance (during which he performs a little animated dance for you) triggers the bonus game for Barnyard Boogie. The bonus game takes place on a second screen, and features the inside of a barn with several items inside – a hay bale, a tractor, some crates, and so on. Pick things to look behind, to try and find the hiding piggy. You will get a bonus amount no matter what, but the highest bonus is awarded if you find the pig! You get a few tries, and the bonuses are added up at the end for your total bonus award. The image of the barn is the scatter symbol. If at least two of these appear on the reels at any given time, music plays and the image of the barn rocks back and forth. You will be awarded a scatter prize!
