Oregon Woman Became Instant Millionaire

In a true Cinderella story, the likes of which is our favorite kind to report, a woman from Hillsboro, Oregon, won over five million dollars playing the penny Wheel of Fortune slot machine game at the Three Rivers Casino and Hotel resort in Florence last Friday night. Proving that luck strikes like lightening, the punter –who has chosen to remain anonymous, despite the flood of well-wishes and congratulations flooding her way- had been spinning the reels of the progressive slot game title for less than an hour and had played a mere four dollar bet when her life changed forever.

According to a press release by the casino, the woman called a casino attendant over after lining up three “Wheel of Fortune” title logo symbols. The machine had lit up and indicated that she should seek assistance, and the release reported that she was very excited, thinking that she had won six hundred dollars. Little did she know that she had won a good deal more than that – five point two million dollars, to be exact!

The jackpot, which came from the Wheel of fortune jackpot network spanning the entire West Coast, set a record for the casino and ranks as the second-highest jackpot payout ever won in Oregon. (The top was for over nine million dollars.) Only ten million-dollar-plus payouts have been recorded in state history. It is only the third Mega jackpot payout ever for the casino since it opened its doors in 2004. The winner was said to still be in shock, and hadn’t yet decided how she would spend her winnings.
