Teacher’s Aide Is
New Millionaire
Phyllis Barrett experienced the kind of luck that
slot machine players dream about last Saturday. The teacher’s aide
from Pendleton, Oregon, won no less than three slots jackpots last
weekend at the Wild Horse Resort and Casino in Mission – and the
biggest prize of the three was a progressive whopper of over two
million dollars! Barrett was taking some time for herself at the
casino, where she decided to relax and play a few of her favorite
slot games.
Her good luck started when she played her and her husband’s
birthdays on the Krazy Keno slot machine, one that she plays
frequently. For a six number match, she won a dollar over forty-two
hundred dollars! She also won eight hundred dollars on another slot
game later. But the big haul of the day was the Twilight Zone
progressive jackpot, which Barrett hit! She said that, at first, she
wasn’t even positive how much she had won!
In case you have ever wondered what it’s like to win a huge slot
machine jackpot, let Barrett assure you that it’s a tedious process!
You might imagine that the road from the bells and whistles of your
big prize to that coveted check being placed in your hands is a
short one, but Barrett was actually tied up in casino protocol for
several hours. First of all, casino representatives came out to
verify her win. It was a few hours before a technician for
International Gaming Technology, the company that made the slot game
and leased it to the casino, could come out and check that
everything was kosher. Reports say that it took three hours to
dismantle the cabinet and verify that it had functioned properly.
After that, it took approximately one more hour for a second company
official to fly in from Boise and issue a check to Barrett. (We
think it was probably worth the wait!)
