Slots Get Radio Play

Imagine our surprise here at SlotsData when we were in the car listening to the radio the other day and heard the very distinctive sound of slot reels spinning and the “sound of rain” on the local Top 40 station! We of course had to listen. The song that followed was called “Waking Up In Vegas” by Katy Perry. You might have heard of this singer from last year’s inescapable hit “I Kissed a Girl.” Her latest single is a catchy little tune about waking up (drunk) in Sin City, and all the clichés involved in that scenario: a late-night wedding with Elvis officiating, losing all one’s money, and bright lights on the Strip.

As big fans of slots and casino gambling, we were intrigued by this pop confection. On the other hand, it didn’t exactly perpetuate a great message about playing the slots. While it seems to be the case almost one hundred percent of the time in movies and music videos by lovely, raven-haired pop ingénues, it seems to us that very few people who go to Las Vegas (or anywhere else) to play the slots machines end up ambiguously hitched, hungover, and miserable. Every adult has a responsibility to play prudently, but the stereotypes are getting a little ridiculous!

Of course, that’s one of the advantages of playing the online slots: we know of very few people who have ended up hitched after a long night playing the online slots at an internet casino on the World Wide Web. But we still like the song – we had to laugh to find that most of us were still singing it the next day.
