Florida Couple
Robbed of Casino Winnings
A pleasurable night out playing the slots at the
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino turned tragic for an elderly couple in
Sunrise, Florida. It was reported in CBS4 news that a pair of
retirees were robbed of their cash winnings and credit cards after
an evening spent spinning the reels of their favorite slot machines
at the casino, which is located in the nearby city of Hollywood. The
crime took place around two o’clock in the morning of Monday,
January 19th. The pair had no sooner pulled into the driveway of
their residence than they were ambushed by two male suspects
brandishing weapons.
According to police records, the men made off with one hundred forty
dollars in cash, which the seniors had won playing the slots at the
casino as they whiled away time on that Sunday night. Several credit
cards were also taken from their wallets by the thieves. Luckily,
there may be a lead on the case. One of the pilfered credit cards
was used to purchase fuel a short time after the crime was committed
at a Citgo gas station located on Griffin Road in the nearby town of
Dania Beach. Surveillance footage captured at the station shows two
men who are currently suspects in the robbery.
The tape shows one man who appears to be of Hispanic heritage, aged
somewhere between thirty and forty years, and between five feet
eight inches and five feet eleven inches in height, wearing a blue
shirt with short sleeves and buttons down the front. The other
suspect in the slot machine cash robbery is an African American male
of similar age and shorter height, with either a buzz cut or no
hair.
