Slot Review: Liquid
Gold
Looking for some liquid gold? How about some
liquid disappointment? We were initially as excited as ever when we
heard news that Microgaming was releasing four new online slot
games, and looked forward to reviewing them. Liquid Gold, one of the
four, was not at all what we had expected. No slot designer is
exempt from the occasional lapse in creativity and/or execution, but
this title is a real dud. Liquid Gold is bland and generic, two
criticisms that are nearly inexcusable, even with the fat jackpot
that also comes along with this title in its higher levels. We
weren’t really willing to spend the time and money to play through
this game for that long!
Liquid Gold is a five-reel, twenty-payline slot. On the reels you
will see gold bars, melting gold, and letter/number icons that look
like they are made of – you guessed it – liquid gold. The background
is also a golden shade. All this gets more than a bit repetitive and
tiresome after a while.
This online slot game contains scatters, but the payout is nothing
to write home about. If you end up with two, you will win a scatter
prize of twice your bet amount. The much-rarer incidence of landing
four or five scatters will net you five times and then fifty times
your bet amount. The free spins bonus is good for just ten free
spins, which also seems miserly. The pay tables just did not offer
much in the way of enticement to keep playing such a dull game. We
don’t think we’ll be mining for this Liquid Gold!
