Slot Review: Sports
Night
Well, we’ll say this for Sports Night: it may have
already tied up the award for the ugliest online slot game that we
will review in 2009. Aside from this extremely dubious distinction,
we don’t know what else can be said for this particular title, which
comes to us courtesy of Microgaming. It’s only about a year and a
half old, so there’s not really an excuse for the amateur-looking
graphics, the frenetic and unpleasant gameplay, and the lame
jackpot. Avid sports fans could probably find better forms of
amusement than spending their time and money on this game!
Sports Night is a five-reel, twenty-five payline title. Coin values
go from a penny to a quarter, with everything in between. Max coins
is set at two hundred fifty. There is a small jackpot of seven
thousand coins, which hits often because of its unimpressive size.
There are plenty of paylines, which means that you are likely to hit
at the very least one winning combo per spin if you have bet on
every line – a good idea no matter which slot machine you have
chosen to play.
The reels are filled with generic images of athletes in action,
along with the various bits of equipment and apparatus necessary to
play such sports as baseball, hockey, and soccer. A cheering crowd
is the man sound you hear playing this slot game, and it gets quite
repetitive after a while. There are wild and scatter symbols, as
well as free spins and a gamble bonus feature. The garish colors of
this game are a real turn-off, however, and the uninspired gameplay
doesn’t go far towards convincing us to overlook the visual
unpleasantness.
