Lady Luck Took the
Weekend Off
It was a sluggish weekend for progressive online
slot game jackpots open to players from the United States.
President’s Day week marked a huge dry spell in the payout of some
of the World Wide Web’s biggest prizes, disappointing millions of
players. Typically, the weekly period from Friday to Sunday sees at
least a handful of big progressive prizes hit, because so many more
punters have the time to just relax in front of the computer with
their favorite gambling diversion. This past weekend, however,
players could have been better off venturing outside to play in the
snow.
A big jackpot hitting on the horseracing title Win, Place, or Show
gave false hope to the community on Friday. Not a single progressive
jackpot open to American players paid out for the remainder of the
weekend, fizzling the hope of slots fans from California to New
England. With the big Valentine’s Day tournaments behind us, it
seems that Lady Luck packed her bags and took a few days off in the
resulting lull.
The economy has been taking its toll on the world of online
gambling, even though the industry continues to thrive in the face
of adversity. Online casinos are eager to tempt players with weekend
free-roll mini-tournaments and plenty of bonuses, but it’s pretty
discouraging when a whole weekend goes by without any great news
about players winning a big jackpot. Psychologically, hearing about
big jackpot wins always seems to make us want to play as well, and
this past weekend gave us no good news on which to stake our
bankrolls.
