Eash Will Not Accept
“No” For An Answer (3 of 3)
While the situation was unfortunate, a judge
agreed, the casino upheld their end of contract law and paid Eash
what she was fairly owed.
Now, Eash is taking her story to whomever will listen, including
local newspapers and reporters. She says that she still believes
that she is entitled to the million dollar prize that is her due, no
matter what the court may have decided. Eash told reporter Steve
Phillips that the entire process has been a “series of emotional ups
and downs,” but she is refusing to give up on what she believes is
fair. Eash’s daughter, Celeste, states that the experience has been
“draining” for her mother. Eash was quoted as having said, “mistake
is mistake” – in other words, the casino should pay up.
For their part, the IP Casino says that they are “happy” with the
resolution of the slot machine jackpot dispute. General Manager Jon
Lucas told Phillips that “the monies involved IGT, not IP,” since
the terminals in question were merely licensed and leased, and it
was not an employee of the actual casino who had made the error.
Eash’s attorney said that, at this point, her only two options going
forward were to ask the state Supreme Court for a reconsideration of
the issue, or to try to get the United States Supreme Court to hear
the case. Of course, Eash also had the option of giving up and just
sticking with the eight thousand dollars that she has won. Most slot
machine players would consider that a pretty decent haul.
