Gamblers Prefer To
Keep Feet On Dry Land (1 of 2)
The seemingly unstoppable growth of the online
slots and casino gambling industry has proven hard on many other
traditional (land-based) gambling venues. The world-renowned casinos
of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Las Vegas, Nevada have seen
significant dips in playership and revenues. The poor state of the
economy of undoubtedly a factor in this disturbing trend, but
experts are putting most of the blame on the presence of internet
gambling. The glitzy, huge resorts of the Strip are not the only
establishments suffering, either. Once upon a time, folks living in
areas with hard-nosed regulations on gambling flocked to cruise
ships. These vessels would motor offshore just far enough to
circumvent restrictions on land betting, ply their patrons with the
draw of cheap buffets and alcohol, and watch the profits roll in.

even enough slot machine fans to even justify the price of fuel and
cheap booze.
The problem is, online slot games and other forms of internet casino
gambling are phenomenally attractive. Players need not leave the
comfort and privacy of their own homes to attain high-quality,
immediately-accessible gambling diversions that they once would have
had to fork up airfare to Vegas or AC to enjoy. In these tough
economic times, the savings on travel and lodging are real and not
insignificant to people having to watch every dime. Online casinos
never close, are never filled with smoke or the annoyance of other
patrons, and one never has to wait for a turn at their favorite slot
machine.
