Slot Terms You Need
to Know: Volume 12
Take Cycle: This is how long a particular slot
machine takes to bring in as many coins or token as it needs before
it can payout a jackpot. It’s not necessarily the case that the
machine needs that many coins to pay out as a prize; but there is
usually a minimum number of coins that the machine must retain in
order to meet its assigned payout percentage. It’s sometimes
possible for the slot game in question to pay out smaller winnings,
but it will usually not hit the maximum jackpot until it has
completed a take cycle. Obviously, this does not apply to online
slot machines.
Symbols: These are the little pictures that are on the reels of a
slot machine, which you line up in order to win a prize. In terms of
old-fashioned “fruit machines,” these symbols are the grapes,
cherries, melons, et cetera.
Theoretical Hold Worksheet: This is pretty much a casino’s
instructions for a new slot machine. The worksheet tells the owner
the reel strip settings and gives a formula for how much the device
should retain based on the levels of coin-in. It also specifies how
many coins can be played by the device. Obviously, this is all very
useful information!
Bonus Video Slots: These are the super-duper slots, the ones that
are the most innovative, most exciting, and most fun to play! You
can expect that a bonus video slot machine will have the most
up-to-date and realistic graphics, and be jam-packed with the
coolest surprises for players. They have untold numbers of options,
including a second-level bonus round. These top-of-the-line video
slots are not limited to land-based casinos: many online casinos are
now jumping in on the trend, and offering these games as well.
