Your Guide to Slots
Etiquette (4 of 4)
Naturally, if you live in a state that has
outlawed smoking in casinos (like Pennsylvania did recently), this
issue has been decided for you!
Now, for another controversial topic: tipping. They say that the
word does not just refer to a city in China, and we would have to
agree. Folks who are poor tippers like to argue that they should not
have to pay anyone’s wages, and that is all well and good. The fact
remains, however, that you are guaranteed to receive better service
if you tip well, and it is the ethically right thing to do. If you
are a novice gambler, you may be a bit uncertain about the protocol
of casino tipping. Let us help you. If you win a slot machine
jackpot that requires a casino attendant to come out and hand pay
you, it is normal to tip them. The industry standard is between
one-half and one percent of your total haul… five or ten dollars on
a one thousand dollar win, for example. It is certainly not
required, but it is always appreciated! If you plan on tipping, we
advise that you bring a few small bills of your own. Some casino
attendants will try a sneaky tactic by bringing you your money back
in big bill, hoping that you will slip them a larger bill.
That’s really about it! Hopefully, these articles have given you a
quick and convenient primer on slot machine etiquette that will
serve you well. If everyone used their manners, the world of
gambling would be much more hospitable to everyone!
