More Slot Myths Explained – And Debunked! (2 of 3)

With the exception of the few extra calories it might take to reach on over and pull the lever, you are doing the same exact thing by pushing the button! It doesn’t help or hurt your shot at landing that six-figure jackpot to do one or the other. Of course, if pretending to be Frank Sinatra and pulling that arm makes you feel good, go ahead! You are gambling for fun, after all – have a blast! (Just don’t feel superior to the guy next to you who is poking the button.)

#2 – Do You Hear the Sound of Rain?

Are coins luckier than credits? This is another case of a superstition cooked up by gamblers who are firmly-rooted in the old-school methods of play. There’s a persistent belief that your quarter (or penny, nickel, dime, or dollar coin) is a better bet than a credit or token. And don’t blow on those coins! A parallel belief holds that chilly coins are luckier than those that have been warmed in your hand or elsewhere. Our advise? Don’t go worrying about how you are going to explain that mini-fridge plugged in next to your slot game of choice to the casino authorities! The slot device has no way of “knowing” the temperature of your coins. Furthermore, coins are no safer a bet than any other form of paying the machine. In fact, some latter-day machines don’t even take coins. (And how about those online slot machines?)

Our advise on this matter follows the official word on the last myth: if you get a kick out of the sound of that coin falling down into the hopper, go wild using coins to play the slots. There is nothing wrong at all with playing a certain way because you just LIKE IT BETTER – that’s a good time, after all! Just don’t think that you are throwing your luck away if you play with credits.
