UK Casinos Scramble
for Google Opportunity
News last week that search engine giant Google
would be freeing up its proprietary Adwords in relation to online
slot machine and casino gambling sent the largest internet gambling
firms scrambling to be the first to jump on this priceless marketing
opportunity. Back in June of last year, Google banned Adwords search
term advertising linked to gambling sites. With that restriction
lifted, however, casinos were literally lining up around the block
to get their applications in for consideration. The Smartlive Casino
was the first to take the offer up, followed swiftly behind by the
perennially-popular British firm Ladbrokes.
Data shows clearly that many gamblers in the United Kingdom are
using Google to search for online slot machine and casino sites at
which to play. With the global market in crisis, more and more folks
who may have once frequented land casinos are turning to internet
alternatives as a more viable means of entertaining themselves. With
casinos now allowed to buy advertising space connected to key search
terms, the sky is literally the limit!
Experts in the field of online advertising are speculating the fight
for ad positioning among the biggest internet slot game and casino
gambling sites will soon cause the rates for these Adwords spots to
“spiral out of control.” Gambling firms are filing their
applications with Google faster than the company can wade through
them, and it will only be a matter of days before we see who rises
to the top of the heap. The internet casino gambling industry is
already one of the most-competitive on the World Wide Web – this
development should only serve to make it just a bit fiercer!
