Slot Review:
Achilles
We were not remarkably impressed with Achilles,
the slot game based on the mythological Greek hero. This five-reel,
twenty-payline online slot game is one of the newest efforts from
Real Time Gaming, which has been struggling for market share in the
face of strong competition from other software providers. They
certainly won’t be getting far with this bore of historic
proportions!
The myth goes that Achilles was a fierce warrior. His only weakness
was his heel. He was dipped into the river Styx by his mother in the
hopes of making him invincible – which worked, except for the spot
by which she was holding him (his foot). Achilles would go on to
become one of the great heroes of the Trojan War, and get killed by
an arrow to the heel. You wouldn’t know any of this from playing
Achilles’ eponymous slot, which offers very little in the way of
intrigue. The reels feature pictures of the Trojan horse, Helen of
Troy, a horse, a flag, and a shield. The colors are dull and the
action is not very lively.
You can bet from one penny to five dollars in coin value on this
online slot, with max coins of twenty. That makes for a one hundred
dollars top bet, which should make this title of at least negligible
attention to high rollers. There is a top jackpot of five thousand
coins, with wild, scatter, and bonus opportunities compensating at
least partially for the small (twenty-five thousand dollar) top
prize.
