Did Slot Winner
Stiff Waitress?
Every situation we encounter in life is fraught
with its own code of etiquette. Whether we are aware of it or not,
there are unspoken rules that govern the choices we ought to make in
practically any circumstance. One of those unspoken rules is that,
if you visit a casino, you should always tip your waitress! Tipping
is always a contentious topic, whether in regards to restaurant
service, takeout Chinese food, or your favorite Starbucks barista.
How much to tip is generally the topic of conversation. A recent
slot machine jackpot winner at the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa,
Florida, has come under fire for not having greased the palm of her
waitress.
Therese Moore described herself as “frugal” when interviewed by a
local newspaper after winning over six-point-five million dollars
playing the Wheel of Fortuen Megajackpot slot game title last
Tuesday. How “frugal” Moore really is became a topic of fervent
discussion after an online comment posted on the St. Petersburg
Times website accused Moore of having stiffed the waitress that kept
her stocked with free drinks while she played. The Times story
mentioned that Moore had stuffed her purse with free buffet coupons
before heading out to the casino; now, some are branding her a
low-down cheapskate.
Two separate commenters corroborated the story that Moore left the
casino without so much as a dollar bill towards the hospitality she
had been shown by her cocktail server. It remains unknown whether
these tales are true, although we are hoping they are not. Such
behavior is really tacky!
