Slots Won’t Pay the
Rent
As the nation and the world sink deeper and deeper
into what everyone is now realizing is a significant financial
crisis, the online casino industry seems to grow more buoyant by the
day. While we certainly would not venture to say that internet
gambling is recession-proof, there are certainly economic factors
that are helping the industry out. In times when it seems like
despair is lurking on every newspaper page and television report,
gambling provides a much-needed means of escape for many people.
Slot machine games, in particular, are good for this purpose because
they provide relatively mindless entertainment. Playing the slots as
a means of escapism is not bad for those who still have a
discretionary income of which to speak, but not everyone is so
lucky.
There has always been awareness that online slots were dangerous for
those facing financial problems. Those in financial crisis have
always been most vulnerable to overspend on gambling and slot
machines specifically. Worse yet, some of these unwise folks have
tried to use playing the slots as a means of supplementing their
income. This is the worst kind of folly, and almost never works out.
These poor people throw caution to the wind and spend money that
they can’t really afford to part with on the whimsy of fate.
That’s why it is important to remember that slots won’t pay the
rent. If you have a little bit of spare cash and want to gamble
strictly as a form of entertainment, then go ahead by all means. Do
not, however, venture into the realm of “problem gambling” by
pinning your hopes on something that is unlikely to happen…
specifically, a life-changing jackpot.
