Slot Review: The
Hamsteads
Most of us had at least some experience with pet
hamsters as children. Whether you personally were the one lucky
enough to have a fuzzy little rodent with a spinning wheel or had
the vicarious thrill of pet sitting for a friend, you know that it’s
easy to love these funny little balls of energy. We wish we could
say that it was quite so easy to love the Hamsteads, the fictional
hamster family behind the five-reel, nine-line online slot game from
Cryptologic. We’ve certainly played more stimulating online slots,
with much more enticing jackpots. Therefore, this game doesn’t have
a great deal to recommend it.
This slot game features coin values from ten cents to five dollars,
with max coins set at nine. The jackpot is a fixed prize of five
thousand coins. That means that the most you could make off this
game is twenty-five thousand dollars. The highest wager per spin is
forty-five dollars. We won’t consider this jackpot a particularly
good return on our investment, but your mileage may vary (as they
say).
The Hamsteads themselves are featured on the reels, which are
situated on their quaint little home. The family seem to be a dour
bunch, with grumpy faces. Letters and numbers fill out the spots on
the reels. The hamster clan will award you the highest payouts when
you score combinations featuring these icons, with the pokey symbols
paying out smaller awards. There is a bonus game in which you can
open shutters to try and find bonus prize money amounts.
