Slot Review:
Forbidden Fruit
The “Forbidden Fruit” of this online slot machine
title was a major disappointment. It could be just us, but we didn’t
notice anything about this game that was particularly provocative or
“forbidden.” In fact, we failed to notice much of anything that
distinguished itself in this title. Combine a low jackpot, sub-par
graphics, and thoroughly unexciting gameplay, and the result is a
punter that probably isn’t going to be much of a success. It’s not
that we can’t appreciate a fruit machine unless it comes with all
the bells and whistles. There is a “right” and a “wrong” way to do
the concept of a basic and no-frills slot title, however… and we’d
place this one firmly in the latter camp.
Forbidden Fruit is a three-reel, five-payline online slot game from
Cryptologic. It mimics the look of a land-based slot machine
console, with a metallic-looking background and buttons that look
like those present on a physical fruit machine. The concept isn’t
new, though, and Cryptologic doesn’t exactly execute it well. The
reels are filled with images of apples, bananas, cherries, and
plums, as well as classic BAR symbols. That would be the “fruit”
part of the “Forbidden Fruit,” we guess. With the prevalence of
similarly-themed slot games out there, this one didn’t exactly offer
anything special.
Coin values range from twenty-five cents to five dollars, with max
coins of five. That makes the top bet an unexceptional twenty-five
dollars. The jackpot is one thousand coins, or five thousand dollars
assuming the maximum bet. With all things considered, we are
thinking that you will want to skip this forbidden fruit altogether.
