Slot Review: Curry
In a Hurry
We don’t particularly care for spicy food, but
it’s not our dislike for the hot stuff that made us glance askance
at Curry In a Hurry. What is it with online slot game designers and
the derogatory ethnic stereotypes? Microgaming makes some of our
favorite slot machine games, and enjoys a deserved reputation for
excellence and dominance of the industry. Their creative team is
obviously talented, so why did they feel the need to sink down to
the low level of bigotry that they did with this game? We don’t
know, but we’re disappointed.
An opening animation sets up the back story for this slot game. A
man orders some Indian takeout, and has a plate of curry delivered
to his door. When he opens his dinner and takes a bite, the curry is
apparently too hot for him to handle. This five-reel, twenty-five
line punter is a cheap and garish take on this really popular type
of ethnic food. The reels are filled with images of a red takeout
truck, a plate of naan (a type of bread, akin to pita), and a
leering, stereotypical person that we guess is supposed to be the
Indian chef.
Curry in a Hurry features coin values ranging from one penny to
fifty cents, with max coins of five hundred. The jackpot is a
miserly forty-five hundred dollars. The multiplier in the bonus game
could theoretically multiply that by fifteen, but we still don’t
fee; this game is worth two hundred and fifty bucks a spin. This
online slot features wild and scatter symbols. The scatter symbol is
the curry plate. Collect three of these to be taken to a bonus
round.
