South Africa
Considering Online Slots
Many people love online slots and gambling in
South Africa. The problem is that not only is it illegal, but if you
are caught doing it you will be looking at jail time as well as
massive fines. Many other countries are cracking down on illegal
online slots and gambling as well, however, they are going after the
companies – not the gamblers.
The country has tried in vain to get their residents to stop online
slots and gambling, but they are unable to stem the tide of
progress. Those that are participating in it know that if they are
caught they are done for, but it is not enough to dissuade them from
doing so.
There are no online gambling licenses given out in the country, and
Themba Marasha, the Chief Operations Officer of the National
Gambling Board says that he has approached those responsible for the
restriction of online slots and gambling, but still they have gotten
nowhere.
Well, now it looks like they might be giving up the fight. This past
Wednesday, a bill regarding making online gambling legal went to the
Select Committee of National Provinces. If it passes it will move on
to the National Assembly for final approval.
They are going to try and make online slots and gambling legal so
that they can offer protections to those that are currently
participating in it. Those that currently play have no protection
and if they are ripped off, they have no legal recourse. It seems
that the old saying is true, if you can’t beat ‘em…
