Newham Gets Slots Go
Ahead
Newham and fifteen other districts have gotten the
go ahead to build large casinos. Parliament had given the ability to
have the slots to the districts, and confirmed that they would not
be going ahead with a super casino in Manchester for now.
There had been talk that the super casino would be scrapped, and
with parliament confirming it, the districts can only work now on
bringing in business to smaller casinos instead. With Culture
Secretary Andy Burnham giving them permission, it ultimately changes
the landscape of the country by bringing in so many slots at one
time.
It will of course be left up to the local authorities to decide if
they even want the slots casino in their district, and if so where
it should be located. For Newham that means deciding between West
Ham United, ExCeL and Stratford City.
Many feel that ExCeL is the front runner as they already bring in
large crowds with their conferences and exhibitions. The
recommendations for whom should be allowed to bring in the slots
casinos came from the Independent Casino Advisory Panel.
