Late Player Wins Big
Jackpot
Sometimes it pays to stay late – just ask Eric L.
Alexander of Erie. Alexander was playing the two cent progressive
slots at Presque Isle Downs and Casino when he hit the jackpot – 35
minutes before the casino was due to close for the night.
Alexander, 25, said that he had been at Doc Holliday’s Country Bar
over on Shultz Road with some buddies and when it closed for the
night they were going to go over to the casino. Alexander went along
for a lark, never expecting that he would hit it big.
And hit it he did – to the tune of $99,350.96. The progressive slots
had been growing since the casino opened in February of last year
according to the casino. He said that he had put I about $80 or $100
on the other slots and then stuck in a $100 voucher in the one that
would ultimately pay off for him.
He said he had only put $4 in the slots game when it hit. He said he
paid his federal taxes on the spot, roughly $30,000, so that he
would not have to worry about it at the end of the year. A disc
jockey at the Boardwalk, he says he is going to have some fun with
half of it and invest the rest.
