She had the face of a beautiful maiden, but hair of coiled snaked. Apparently, she was so frightening that all who gazed upon her would be cursed by turning into stone. Medusa killed hundreds of men, before the hero Perseus thought to attack her with an invisibility cloak and a mirror and cut her head off.
