The Year In Slots:
Our Bottom Ten (4 of 4)
2: Curry In a Hurrry: We like
spicy foods, but hated this obnoxious parody of an Indian take-out
business, brought to us courtesy of Microgaming. We apparently
missed the memo that bigoted caricatures are now supposed to be
amusing and hilarious! The leering, be-turbaned Indian chef was a
cringe-inducing blackface parody. Too bad that the rest of the slot
game was also a snore, with lousy graphics and a piddling jackpot.
Have we also mentioned our complete dislike of the concept of using
letters and numbers to fill in the empty spaces on the reels? In our
mind, it’s pretty lazy. In this case, it was just the tip of the
iceberg. We declined to tip for excellent service on this one!
1: Chinese Kitchen: Managed to
inch out “Curry In a Hurry” as our choice for the most odious online
slot of the year. For some reason, slot designers fail to understand
that racist humor is simply not entertaining to the vast majority of
the population – and that includes the percentage of the public that
play online casino games. The bucktoothed, cross-eyed coolie chef of
Chinese Kitchen had us literally recoiling in disgust. A buncg of
terrified-looking fish also added to the general discomfort we felt
with playing this title, and took away what little shred might ahev
remained of our desire and/or inclination to play it further. We are
not one hundred percent politically collect by any stretch of the
imagination, but this was really too much. Playtech earned itself
the Worst Slot of the Year prize single-handedly with this stinker…
we can tell you that it left a worst taste in our mouth than rotten
fish!
